Alex Iwobi reveals private conversation that 'half surprised' Frank Lampard at Everton

Alex Iwobi has discussed his current run of strong Everton form while also looking back on the reaction to a recent mistake he made against West Ham United.

The midfielder has been one of the highlights of the side in recent matches, earning huge plaudits from those in the stands for his purposeful and energetic displays. The Nigeria international managed to keep that form going even considering a position change on Sunday against Chelsea, playing as a right wing-back for the majority of the match.

However, alongside that strong form there was a costly error in the Blues' loss to West Ham United last month. But, after being told of the reaction from many Evertonians to stand up for him despite the mistake, he admitted he doesn't allow himself to dwell on those moments.

He told the club's official matchday programme: "Really? I didn't know...that's good. I might have been criticised in the past."

Goodison plans will 'celebrate Everton's legacy'

Landmark plans for the future of Goodison Park will “celebrate the legacy” of Everton Football Club.

In two years time, the Toffees are scheduled to move out of their 130-year-old home for a 52,000 seater stadium on the banks of the River Mersey at Bramley Moore Dock. Plans for the demolition of their historic current ground and how the club intends to leave the site were approved by Liverpool Council ’s planning committee this morning.

It is the second time the proposals have been heard, having been submitted last February with plans to construct the new ground at Bramley Moore Dock. Legal agreements agreed as part of the plans have not been completed and due to the time period that has elapsed since the original report was written, the application needed to be reconsidered having regard to any changed circumstances, particularly in relation to national and local planning policy.

According to Alix Craig, Everton FC stadium development and project manager, said the club’s plans, referred to as the Goodison Park Legacy Project, ensured Everton retained control of any developments moving forward and would “maintain the legacy vision” of the club. She added the Blues are “deeply rooted in L4” and were keen to “maintain that connection” with the area.

Everton and Brentford kick off change explained

The reason for Everton's match against Brentford being pushed back from a 2pm kick off to a 4:30pm start time later this month has been revealed.

The Blues welcome Thomas Frank's side to Goodison Park on May 15th for what will be their penultimate home match of the campaign, looking for a vital three points in the relegation fight. Crystal Palace will make their trip to the stadium a few days later, before Frank Lampard's squad finish their season away to Arsenal.

However on Tuesday morning, less than two weeks before the fixture was due to take place, the Premier League announced the kick off time for the match had been pushed back by two-and-a-half hours.

The ECHO understands that is due to a request from West Ham United for their game against Manchester City, which is also to be broadcast live on Sky Sports, to have their game played earlier on the same day.

Latest Bally column

I felt shattered after Everton’s win over Chelsea and I expect the majority of the other 39,000 at Goodison Park felt the same. It felt like the longest game in history but there was so much relief afterwards, writes Michael Ball.

It was a fantastic display from both the players and the fans with the situation before the game. After Burnley had come back to beat Watford the previous day, that can knock the stuffing out of you as a player as the pressure is ramped up but if they were lacking anything then seeing the thousands line the streets to cheer them on during their way in would have given that extra bit of oomph and it worked.

We had to be at it as Chelsea are last season’s Champions League winners and a team with quality players who can hurt you but we just made them play backwards and sideways. The kick-off even epitomised what the day was going to be about as normally we don’t get anything from it but we managed to get a free-kick in a dangerous area just seconds after the start.

Everton 'big admirers' of Tarkowski

Everton are 'keen' on Burnley defender James Tarkowski, if recent reports are anything to go by.

Football Insider claims director of football Kevin Thelwell is a 'big admirer' of the 29-year-old. They also claim he was at Turf Moor last month to watch him in the 1-0 win over Wolves.

Tarkowski's contract expires in the summer and he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension, leading to ongoing speculation over his future at the club.

The report adds any deal for the defender will likely hinge on Everton avoiding relegation and maintaining their top flight status next season.
