Man Utd fans apologise to Jesse Lingard for having "the worst manager in the league"
Lingard will leave Manchester United at the end of the season but was denied an Old Trafford farewell by Ralf Rangnick after being left on the bench against Brentford
Manchester United fans have apologised to Jesse Lingard for their club having the "worst manager" in the Premier League.
Lingard will leave the Red Devils at the end of the season when his contract expires, having spent more than 20 years at the club. Despite that he was denied a farewell at Old Trafford, with United interim boss Ralf Rangnick leaving him on the bench during Monday's win over Brentford.
The midfielder was left less than happy with Rangnick's refusal to bring him on. First, his brother launched a scathing attack on United on his Instagram account before Lingard himself posted a cryptic picture of himself looking confused while playing in the club's academy.
Many United fans were equally unhappy with Rangnick and joined Lingard in slamming the German. One even shared their opinion that Rangnick is the "worst manager in the league", with only four games left under his management.
"Love you Jesse. Sorry we employ the worst manager in the league. You deserved a send-off," one supporter claimed. Another added: "You should be in that team, if not they should have let you leave, it’s appalling. You are actually the most modern forward in the squad, and have energy and intelligence."
A third replied: "Jesse we love you don't forget that, we will be ever grateful for your time at Man U trust me....I know you knew you deserved a better farewell... but don't let that overshadow your cherished time's here... much love where ever you are going best of luck."

Another fan branded Rangnick's decision as 'staggering', writing: "Don’t really like your brother's response but it shouldn’t have ended this way. Thank you for everything. How the club gave Cavani a walkout over you is staggering."
A fifth added: "Sometimes football doesn’t fit with sentiment. Thanks for all the good memories Jesse , we had some good times together." Another fan added: "Deserved a send-off Jesse, good luck in the next chapter of your career."
