Charlie Adam explains emotional Hibs celebration as Dundee star admits he had a tear in his eye

Adam scored a stunning strike to seal a 3-1 win over Hibs that puts the ball back in St Johnstone's court.

Charlie Adam admits he had a tear in his eye after his stunning strike against Hibs - because he knows it may have been his last appearance at Dens Park.

The former Scotland cap helped the Dee to their first win under Mark McGhee and it keeps them alive for at least another 24 hours.

His stunning strike from range sunk managerless Hibs and leaves St Johnstone needing one point from their final two games to relegate them mathematically.

36-year-old Adam is out of contract at the end of the season and it remains unclear if Dundee will be able to keep him, particularly if they do drop into the Championship.

And Adam admits he got emotional after he hit the back of the net, as it dawned on him it may have been his last appearance at Dens Park.

When asked on BBC Sportsound if he had a tear in his eye, Adam said: "Yeah, because it could be my last game here in this stadium.

"I've got a decision to make in the next few weeks and see what the club want to do. The manager, whoever that's going to be next season, I'll speak to him.

"I've had a wonderful two years. I thank James McPake for bringing me in, I got a text from him today and I appreciate the opportunity.

"It's been a great two years and the next ten days or two weeks will decide what happens."
