David de Gea and Juan Mata have sent congratulatory messages to former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera after he made 500 career appearances.

The 32-year-old reached the milestone as Paris Saint-Germain reclaimed their title at the Ligue 1 summit. Mauricio Pochettino's side romped to the top of the table after Lille failed to defend their 2021 triumph.

Herrera has been restricted to limited game-time under the Argentine this season, making 19 appearances in the French top-flight but since January, he has had five outings but he has played just 83 minutes across their last two.

Herrera looks set to remain at the Parc des Princes for another season with his contract due to expire at the end of the next campaign.

Former United teammates and International teammates, De Gea and Mata both sent messages to the midfielder. The shot-stopper commented: "Jugadorazo," which translates to "unplayable".

Mata said: "A por otros 500," toasting another 500 professional matches to Herrera. During their 4-0 triumph over Metz, he was a late introduction as he replaced another former Red in Angel di Maria - who was playing his final match for the Parisians.
