Facing Madrid's interest, AC Milan won't go below Leao's 150 million euro buyout clause

After the disappointment of Mbappe's decision to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Madrid's plans have been turned upside down. And that turnaround has seen Rafael Leao go from possibility to priority on Carlo Ancelotti's list of possible reinforcements. The problem is that they will have to pay 150 million euros for him.
This has been confirmed by Milan's director of strategy and development, Paolo Maldini, in an interview with 'La Gazzetta dello Sport'. He underlined how he managed to acquire the talented player from Lille and praised him for the steps forward he has taken to become an important player as a 'Rossoneri'.
"There is a buyout clause in the contract worth 150 million euros, but we consider him untouchable. Leao is still a diamond in the rough, he has made great improvements from one year to the next. We took him from the bench at Lille by paying him 24 million and immediately put a 150 million buyout clause on him," he said.
"We potentially believed in him, he has always been a champion. Now, he has to follow a path that is not yet finished. It's clear that if, in the future, Milan are not at Leao's level or Leao is not at Milan's level, things can change. But, at the moment, the growth is exponential for the club and for the player," he said.
