Ex-Rangers star Charlie Adam reveals transfer discussions with Steven Gerrard over Ibrox return and admits regret
CHARLIE ADAM has opened up on discussions over a potential transfer return to Rangers.
Former Liverpool team mate Steven Gerrard apparently wanted a reunion with Adam when he joined the Gers in 2018.
The former Rangers midfielder was playing for Stoke at the time and was looking forward to making his way back to Glasgow to play under the Anfield legend.
But he reveals his regret after negotiations fell short and he couldn't return to Ibrox.
The 36-year-old told BBC's This Sporting Life podcast: "I had one or two discussions with Steven to come back over the years when he first joined and things like that.
"I had conversations, met him to talk about it. That was early on (in Gerrard's reign). When Mark Allen was Director of Football.

"Unfortunately for me it was something that never happened. I was still at Stoke at the time.
"I knew at the time they were going to sign (Steven) Davis and what the plan was.
"I was up for it but unfortunately it never happened. But that's the way it goes.
Asked if he regretted the move not coming to fruition, Adam added: "Yeah. Big club, the pressure.

"But you can only get that if the proper offer was there.
"There was discussions but it never ever materialised."
Meanwhile, Michael Beale has admitted that four seasons at Rangers turned him into an angry Scotsman.
He said: “I moved the family up and lived for three-and-a-half years in Balfron. I really enjoyed my time at Rangers, and it was difficult to move on.
“You’re leaving a massive club and an institution.
“I have left big clubs before, Chelsea, Liverpool and Sao Paulo — I seem to run away from everywhere after a few years!
“Rangers was as big as any of them. You only have to look at the 48,000 season tickets, and all the fans around the world.
“Glasgow’s a fantastic football city. It’s a bit crazy and a bit intense at times.
“I loved it because I love the intensity and the pressure. Pressure is a privilege in this game. If you are not under pressure then you are at the wrong level.
“I’ll always love that pressure we had to win well at Rangers.
