Aiden McGeady completes Hibs transfer as ex-Celtic hero returns to Scottish football 12 years after record £9.5m sale

HIBERNIAN have confirmed the signing of Aiden McGeady on a permanent deal.
The 36-year-old has arrived as a free agent, following the expiration of his contract at Sunderland.
Hibs boss Lee Johnson has previously worked with McGeady during the pair's time at the Stadium of Light from 2020-22.
Despite turning 36 in April, McGeady was still an important player for Sunderland last season, as the side won promotion to the English Championship via the League One play-off final.
During his five years at Sunderland, McGeady made 149 appearances for the Black Cats, scoring 36 goals and providing 34 assists in the process.
McGeady made his senior debut for Celtic in 2004 at just 18 years old.

Now, after more than a decade, McGeady has made his return to Scottish football where he will play for Hibs.
He'll link up with former Celtic teammate David Marshall who has also joined the Hibees on a free transfer this summer.
