Newcastle United and Aston Villa set for transfer battle for AC Milan star
BirminghamLive brings you the latest Aston Villa transfer news as AC Milan defender Romagnoli is linked
Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli this summer.
The Italy International is set to become a free agent when his contract with AC runs out at the end of the month. And Villa, as well as Newcastle United have been linked with a move by reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews ) claim that Newcastle are chasing the 27-year-old and they are ready to offer a salary of €4million net per year to tempt him to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Villa are also said to be in the race to Romagnoli.

The defender is also attracting intrest from Italian side Lazio and could join the Biancocelesti on a free transfer from Serie A champions AC. Romagnoli made 19 appearances in the league last season and made another five in the Champions League.
Steven Gerrard has already added depth to his defence this summer, with the arrival of Diego Carlos from Sevilla, while Boubacar Kamara can also fill in at centre-back if required. And despite rumoured interest from elsewhere, captain Tyrone Mings will remain at Villa this summer, although Gerrard is said to be assessing who his skipper will be for the new campaign during pre-season.
