Arsenal allowed teenage midfielder Yunus Musah to leave for Valencia in 2019 at the age of just 16 and now, the USA international could join Serie A side Fiorentina for a £17million fee – according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Musah, 19, joined Arsenal in 2012 at just nine years of age and spent seven years in the Gunners academy. He starred for Arsenal’s Under-18 side despite only being 16, scoring five goals in 17 games from midfield.

But Arsenal failed to keep him. He left for Valencia three years ago. Since then, he has played 71 times for Valencia’s senior side and become a regular for the United States with 18 caps – despite having England Under-18 caps.
Now, Musah could be about to take the next step in his career and move to the Serie A. TMW report that Fiorentina have made an enquiry to sign Musah – Valencia informing La Viola he will cost £17million.
Arsenal allowed Musah to leave: Could join Fiorentina for £17million
It is a double blow for Arsenal. Not only would it mean Arsenal have missed out on nurturing a talent to become the player he is today, potentially costing £17million – but also, the ‘stunning’ star could replace Lucas Torreira.
A permanent deal for the Uruguay international, after Torreira spent the 21-22 season on loan at Fiorentina, has fallen through. Arsenal have missed out on a sizable fee for the midfielder – who has 12 months left on his deal.
Instead, Fiorentina are set to look towards Valencia and bring in ex-Arsenal academy star Musah. Not only will Arsenal regret losing Musah, but they are now stuck with Torreira who they will have to now sell to raise some cash.
