Shota Arveladze loves Rangers so much he even recreated his last Ibrox goal in training reveals Hull star

GREG DOCHERTY always thinks about Shota Arveladze as one of Rangers’ Helicopter Sunday heroes.
But he never imagined getting to see his Hull gaffer flying through the air to re-enact his last goal at Ibrox.
The former Rangers striker returned to his old stomping ground in March for a Gers v Rest of the World legends game.
Arveladze might have been 49, but his diving header opened the scoring for the Light Blues.
Docherty was a big fan of the ex-Georgia ace as a kid and he got a front row seat as Arveladze showed his Tigers players how it was done in training.
He said: “The gaffer and I spoke quite a lot about the European run and Rangers in general.

“The No 2 at Hull, Peter van der Veen, knows the Rangers assistant David Vos really well.
“I speak to Peter a lot about the club as well and it’s good.
“The gaffer still loves Rangers. He scored in the legends game last season and he wanted to re-enact it for the Hull boys.
“We obviously pick our moments to talk about Rangers, as we have a job to do at Hull.

“But it’s nice to have something in common.
“I think the gaffer will always be remembered for the 2005 season and Helicopter Sunday.
“That is one of my earliest memories of supporting Rangers and you could see what it meant to the club.
“The fans remember everyone from that team fondly and I know it means the world to him.
“He still speaks so highly about the club and the fans, he loved being back at Ibrox again.”
Docherty, who left Gers for Hull in August 2020, has been impressed by Arveladze since he took charge in January — and admits the gamble of moving south has paid off.
He added: “It’s been interesting working with Shota. It’s the first time I have been with a manager who isn’t from the UK so it’s been good to see a different style.
“I’ve played a lot since coming here but it was a big risk leaving Scotland and my comfort zone.
