Celtic to learn Rangers’ Sydney Super Cup replacements ‘soon’ as organisers promise ‘history will be made’

REMEMBER the Sydney Super Cup?
It feels like quite a while since the Australia-based competition courted plenty of controversy, but there could be further developments just around the corner.
It's been over three months since both Celtic and Rangers announced their participation in the event scheduled for during the World Cup break in November.
The Light Blues' fans reacted furiously to their club's decision to take part.
The anger was in part around the potential of an Old Firm 'friendly' clash, but also due to the way the tournament was being marketed in Australia.
It's been billed as a 'homecoming' tour for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, and Gers fans weren't too pleased to being seen almost as a sideshow to the Hoops boss' return.

The mounting pressure eventually saw Rangers withdraw at the start of April, leaving the Parkhead club and Australian A-League duo Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers waiting to see what will happen next.
Well, three months on and it seems that things might be finally about to become a little bit clearer.
The Sydney Super Cup website's home page has been updated with a message that appears to suggest an announcement is imminent.
It reads: "Sydney Super Cup - update coming soon.

"History will be made in Sydney this November in the newly created Sydney Super Cup.
"Updated details to be announced soon!"
It could mean that the organisers are preparing to reveal just who will replace Rangers to participate in the competition.
The branding for the tournament is still quite Old Firm-heavy, with green and white and blue and white surrounding the tournament's logo.
It's taking place in Sydney over four days, from November 16 to November 20.
