Giovanni van Bronckhorst says he wants at least TWO more new singings in at Rangers as he provides update on Ianis Hagi

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST now wants TWO more signings after landing Tom Lawrence.

The Gers boss was delighted to finalise a deal for the ex-Derby County captain.

Van Bronckhorst said: “We are still busy. I think a couple more, yes. We need to be successful throughout the whole season. You saw last season that we were lacking a little bit of depth up front with the strikers that we lost.

“I don’t want to come into another situation where I have to play someone like Joe Aribo as a striker.

“We just need to be prepared for everything that can happen to this club and still have quality.

“More in the attacking positions is the aim.”

Welsh ace Lawrence, 28, made over 180 appearances for Derby, scoring 35 goals and was a key man under Wayne Rooney.

GVB added: “I saw a lot of games that he played for Derby last year.

“Tom was the captain of the team so that means that he has leadership qualities, otherwise Wayne wouldn’t have chosen him to be the captain.

“He is a player who can bring goals and assists to the team with his strengths and ability to get his shots on goal, and assist other players.

“Tom makes those runs behind the defence, and is always available in between the lines. He is a very complete player and at an age where he has already had many years at a high level.

“Tom played a lot of games last year, so it means his physical ability is there and his quality is as well.

“He will add real quality to the squad.”

Lawrence will join up with his new team-mates in Portugal before tonight’s friendly against Sunderland. He said: “I am delighted to have joined Rangers and I’m excited to get started.

“The club is known worldwide for its history, successes and fanbase.

“I look forward to being part of that and getting to play in front of the supporters at Ibrox.”

Van Bronckhorst has also confirmed crocked star Ianis Hagi will be out until next year.

He said: “It is an injury that is complicated, and I don’t expect him to be back before the World Cup break.”

Van Bronckhorst also confirmed that Kemar Roofe hasn’t travelled with the rest of the squad after breaking down last week. But Alfredo Morelos and Filip Helander are making good progress.
