Rangers transfer state of play on Angelo Fulgini and Rabbi Matondo amid signing desire for 'a couple more'
The interest in 25-year-old Angers star Fulgini has been ramped up with Mainz keen on the vesatile France youth international.
Europa League finalists Rangers have been linked with a move for in-demand Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini.
The 25-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal with the Ligue 1 side but they are understood to want around £6m for a player who scored five goals in 36 appearances last season. Mainz have also been namechecked as potential suitors for the ex France international who has turned heads with his displays in multiple roles across midfield.
The signing link comes with Joe Aribo on the verge of joining Southampton in a £10m deal. The Nigeria international is expected to rubber stamp his switch to St Mary's over the weekend. Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst admits he is seeking a "couple more" attacking players this summer after landing both Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence in recent days.
And now the Ibrox side have been credited with an interest in Wales international Rabbi Matondo. The 21-year-old Schalke star is wanted by French duo Lorient and Brest but the Ibrox side have also been named as potential suitors by Loic Tanzi. And van Brocnkhorst has made it clear he's seeking more in the final third before the season gets underway.
Speaking to the Rangers Review, he said: “We are still busy. I think a couple more, yes. We need that to be successful throughout the whole season. You saw last season that we were lacking a little bit of depth up front with the strikers that we lost.
“I don’t want to come into another situation where I have to play someone like Joe as a striker. Just prepared for everything that can happen to this club and then still have quality. Yes, more in the attacking positions is that aim.”
