Melbourne Victory fans have savagely trolled Erik ten Hag during Manchester United's friendly against the A-League side in Australia.

United faced the Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday in the second match of their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. However, the Premier League giants found themselves a goal down just five minutes into the match after Australia international winger Chris Ikonomidis opened the scoring.

The home fans at the 100,024 capacity MCG did not waste any time in poking fun at new United boss Ten Hag and brutally trolled the Dutchman with a savage chant during the first half.

Manchester Evenings News reporter Samuel Luckhurst took to Twitter to confirm that Victory fans were singing "You're getting sacked in the morning" to Ten Hag.

The former Ajax manager is just two games into his time as Red Devils boss after arriving at Old Trafford this summer to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick in the dugout.

However, his side were sent back down to Earth on Friday after Ikonomidis' early goal in Melbourne. A mishap from Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof had left a gaping hole in the United defence.

That allowed Victory to go from their own penalty area to scoring in five passes as Ikonomidis slotted the ball past Tom Heaton with a calm finish.

Luckily for the defensive duo, who were labelled the "Chuckle Brothers" on social media after the incident, United turned the score around before half-time. Two goals in three minutes from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial meant United went in 2-1 ahead at the interval and spared Maguire and Lindelof's blushes.
