The Italian league winners are contemplating the possibility of signing the Bosnian midfielder on loan

A return to Italy's Serie A could be FC Barcelona's solution for Miralem Pjanic, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. Reigning champions AC Milan are reportedly interested in the Bosnian international midfielder, who has returned to Barça's ranks after a season-long spell with Besiktas, in the Turkish Super League.

Xavi Hernandez does not count on Miralem Pjanic for the 2022/23 campaign, but the difficulties in finding a destination club and the quality of the Balkan midfielder instigated Barcelona's coach to give him a new opportunity during the preseason, although not as a starter in the team. Despite everything, it remains the priority of the club and the footballer to find a solution in the form of a departure. The problem, however, is that Pjanic, at 32 years of age and with a contract until 2024, has a very high fee which most of the teams interested in his services do not wish to bear.

His stellar reputation in the Serie A might be enough for teams there to overlook that though. His time at Roma and Juventus has left its mark on Italian soccer, and now it is AC Milan who are in line to recruit him after Inter's interest some months ago. In Italy, there is talk of a possible loan, but Barça want a permanent resolution and are likely to include terms for a compulsory purchase at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

For now, Pjanic has left the Barça squad in Miami, who are on tour in the United States and tonight will play their first match against Inter Miami. Miralem has travelled to Nice to accompany his wife at the birth of the couple's second child and intends to return to finish the training on the American tour, even as his future remains clouded.
