Brentford have held talks with former Burnley captain Ben Mee, 32, who is a free agent.
The 32-year-old's contract expired at the end of June following the Clarets relegation from the Premier League.
Mee captained the side during the last three top flight seasons to cap off an 11-year stint at Turf Moor.

But the English centre-back could be set for an instant return to the Premier League, as Brentford aim to pen a deal with the veteran defender.
Thomas Frank is keen to lure Mee ahead of next season, due to the Bees' growing injury list at centre-half.
Key defenders Ethan Pinnock and Kristoffer Ajer are injury doubts ahead of Brentford's opening weekend clash against Leicester on August 7.

Mee was sidelined with a hairline fracture of the fibula against Leicester start campaign, ruling him out of the final 13 matches of the season.
The former captain's exit preceded a summer of wholesale changes at Turf Moor, following the appointment of new boss Vincent Kompany.
Burnley have already waved farewell to James Tarkowski, Nick Pope, Nathan Collins and Wayne Hennessey, who have each taken up new challenges in the top flight.
