FORMER Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has opened up on the 'intense' relationship he shared with former teammate and now Hibs winger Aidan McGeady.

The Polish shot-stopper, who called time on his playing career on Wednesday after Celtic's latest friendly against Legia Warsaw, has opened up about his time at Parkhead and in particular - THAT training ground brawl.

The Hoops played out a 2-2 draw with the Polish side as Ange Postecoglou's pre-season preparations continued.

Strikes from Japanese pair Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda saw Celtic go two up before strikes from Josue and Maciej Rosolek levelled things up for the Polish champs.

The widely-told story tells that Boruc irked the winger by refusing to dive for McGeady's shots in training

When words were exchanged, he then saw red, going for McGeady to try and swing a punch, before the pair were separated by teammates.

The former Fiorentina and Southampton stopper admits that the pairs relationship was tense, but reiterated that it just showed the pair's desire for success at Parkhead.

McGeady has also spoken of the incident - suggesting that Boruc came back for more after reaching out for an apology and took a cheap shot back in the dressing room.

The Pole told FootballScotland: "I don't think that was just one time,"

"It was probably a couple of times, we had quite an intense relationship, let's just say that.

"Does it come from two people just wanting to win in their own way? Probably.

"Although Aiden was always a cheeky little... I don't want to end that sentence!

"But he was a great football player and I think overall he was a good teammate and we achieved a lot together so I won't say anything bad about him because I like him.

"I'll let Aiden talk about it!"

Elsewhere, former Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths is training with Premiership side, Livingston - but he WONT be joining David Martindale's side.

Livi boss Martindale opened his doors to the 31-year-old, although he insists there’s no plans to offer him a deal.

He said: “Leigh was just scunnered with football and I had a chat with him after we played Dundee.

“I told him if there was anything I could do to help him he could give me a shout.

“If I can help anyone, not just Leigh, I will go out of my way to do that.

“I know he has had some trouble off the park, but everyone in football I have spoken to about Leigh said how good a guy he is.

“He’s worked so hard, he’s lost weight and body fat, and he’s been brilliant around the place."
