Radamel Falcao has sent a message to Manchester United supporters after his return to Old Trafford with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon.

Falcao, 36, spent the 2014/2015 season on loan with United from AS Monaco, scoring four goals in 29 appearances across all competitions. However, the club opted against signing him on a permanent basis after he was first welcomed into the Premier League by former United manager Louis van Gaal.

Starting his career with River Plate, the 99-cap Colombia frontman has also played for Porto and Chelsea while his best days came at Monaco and in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

It finished all square with the veteran so nearly marking his return in style with an effort which struck the frame of the goal.

Speaking to MUFC media post-match, Falcao said: "Yes, they showed me that [love]. I felt from the fans. I'm very grateful for that and I enjoyed. I think we played very well and I wish, for United, in the season all the best."

He continued: "Almost [scored] but okay, the ball was in the bar. After, we find the goal for the 1-1. For me, I'm very happy for the result.

"Always, I follow the team, follow the matches. Hopefully, this season, Manchester is going to do well."
