SHOCK MOVE

Major Rangers flop Umar Sadiq in line for sensational transfer with Dortmund ‘willing to offer’ £25 million for striker

UMAR SADIQ'S brief loan spell at Rangers was nothing short of a disaster.

Four years on, he could be on the verge of a bumper move to one of European football's biggest clubs, according to reports.

Sadiq joined Rangers on loan from Roma for the 2018/19 season, but the year-long agreement was terminated after just five months.

He made just four appearances in Scottish football and failed to score a goal.

The Nigeria international's only real impact during his time in Glasgow was taking a dive in a Scottish Cup semi final defeat to Aberdeen in what was his only start for the club.

Fast forward four years, and Sadiq is a hot commodity in the game.

After a fruitful spell with Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, he's spent the last two seasons with Almeria in Spain.

Their top scorer in the last two seasons, he's bagged 41 goals in 81 games.

The 25-year old was a key man as Almeria secured promotion back to La Liga last season.

His goal scoring form has led him to be linked with several of European football's top clubs this summer.

Ajax, Benfica, Sevilla and Villarreal are among the clubs credit with an interest this transfer window, but he could be on his way to Germany.

Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo and a host of outlets in Sadiq's homeland are reporting Borussia Dortmund are willing to pay £25 million to land the striker.

No club has of yet met Almeria's valuation but it's being claimed the Bundesliga giants are willing to do just that.

Dortmund are back in the market for a striker this summer for the second time.

Having lost Erling Haaland to Manchester City, they stumped up £30 million to land Sebastien Haller from Ajax as his replacement.

Haller, however, is out of action for the foreseeable future after he was diagnosed with a testicular tumour.

With their new signing unavailable, Dortmund are looking for another player to lead the line.

And it appears that search has led them to Sadiq.
