Celtic assistant boss John Kennedy ‘under consideration’ as Danish side Midtjylland look for new manager

CELTIC assistant John Kennedy is under consideration for the manager's job at Danish club Midtjylland, according to a report.
The 38-year old was on the books of the Celtic first team between 1999 and 2009, and has been employed in various coaching roles since his enforced retirement through injury.
After leading the Hoops to plenty of success at youth level, Kennedy was brought into the first team coaching fold by Ronny Deila in 2014.
He occupied the same role under Brendan Rodgers before being promoted to number two under Neil Lennon in 2019.
When Lennon resigned in February 2021, Kennedy was installed as Celtic's interim manager until the end of the season.
He oversaw ten games as Hoops boss, winning four, drawing four and losing two - both against Rangers.

After Ange Postecoglou's appointment as Lennon's permanent replacement, Kennedy returned to his role as assistant manager.
But according to reports coming out of Denmark, Kennedy is a name being considered by Midtjylland as they look for a new manager.
As reported by newspaper Tipsbladet, he's one of the bosses 'being investigated' as they look to replace Bo Henriksen.
He was sacked at the end of last month just five days before their European clash with Benfica.

Celtic and Midtjylland actually met in Champions League qualifying last summer.
In an early setback under Postecoglou's leadership, the Hoops were dumped out by the Superliga side 3-2 on aggregate, after a 1-1 Parkhead draw was followed by a 2-1 defeat in Denmark.
Celtic, of course, would recover from that early setback to go on and secure a league and cup double.
Midtjylland finished second, six points behind Copenhagen in their league last time around.
Their Champions League hopes for this campaign look as good as over - they were thumped 4-1 by Benfica in that previously mentioned qualifier last week with lots to do in tomorrow's second leg to turn things around in their favour.

If Kennedy was to be appointed by the club, he'd be the first foreign manager in their history.
However, the Danish report notes that nothing is concrete yet and Kennedy is just one of the names being looked at as a potential option.
