Serie A star chased by police and after getting in scuffle with abusive fan

Domenico Berardi had to be escorted back to his team after he chased down a fan who was critical of Sassuolo's loss to Serie B side Modena in the opening round of the Coppa Italia

Serie A star Domenico Berardi has been spotted chasing a fan after he angrily confronted him following a Coppa Italia fixture.

Berardi played the full 90 minutes of Sassuolo's clash with Modena - and even a goal from the spot wasn't enough to send his side through. And Sassuolo fans were quick to let the winger know their disappointment at the side's performance.


However, one fan overstepped the mark with Berardi - causing the Serie A star to hop the barrier and chase after him. Police chased the star, but he was eventually held back by two more fans, who brought him back to the barrier.

Sassuolo shockingly lost to the Serie B side - who stormed into a 2-0 lead.

Berardi pulled one back, but Modena found the net again, and the Serie A side couldn't score until the 88th minute, but Sassuolo were still trailing when the full-time whistle sounded. To add insult to injury, Sassuolo had fielded a strong side.

Sassuolo now face a tricky opening day fixture against Juventus next weekend.

However, when Sassuolo line up against Juventus, Berardi might not be part of the squad after he refused to rule out a move away from the Italian side.

Berardi changed squad number over the summer, but he has refused to suggest that means he'll stay: “I decided to change shirt, then there’s the transfer market, we’ll see…”
