Leigh Griffiths joins Mandurah City as former Celtic striker takes on Australian adventure

The forward has joined the Western Australia outfit after leaving Falkirk at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Former Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is set to make the move to Australia to join second division outfit Mandurah City.

The ex- Scotland international has agreed with the Western Australian side to join until the end of the season. The move sees the forward link up with former St Mirren, Dundee and Falkirk striker John Baird who is the current manager of the Australian club. The outfit announced the arrival of the 31-year-old on Tuesday, hailing him as one of the biggest signings the club has made in their existence, as well as one of the best signings in the Australian NPL & State League football history.


Griffith was a free agent this summer after leaving Falkirk at the end of last season. And now he takes on a new adventure in Oz. Following the news, Mandurah City president Nigel Mann said: “It (the signing) sums up where the club is currently at and the hard work we have put in over the years.”

Announcing Griffiths, a club statement said: “Mandurah City are delighted to announce that former Scotland and Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths will be joining the club. The experienced 31 year old striker is a proven goal scorer in the Scottish Premier League and on an International level.

“Mandurah head coach John Baird is thrilled to have completed the services of the Scotsman for the remainder of the year. Leigh is undoubtedly one of the biggest signings in not only Mandurah’s history, but one of the biggest in Australian NPL & State League football history."
