Wolves want Chelsea star, Blues eye £45m Molineux man; swap possible – Our View

Wolves are reportedly interested in raiding Chelsea for Stamford Bridge outcast Ethan Ampadu, while Chelsea have been linked with Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri – so surely, the Blues should suggest a player-plus-cash deal?

Ampadu, 21, spent last season on loan at Venezia in Serie A and clocked up 30 appearances in all competitions. The 35-time Wales international, though, was not included in Saturday’s matchday squad against Everton.

Despite his versatility – able to play centre-back, left-back or even in midfield – Ampadu has little future at Chelsea. He needs another move this summer and Wolves are ready to give him that. His £12k-a-week deal ends in 2024.

Reports claim that Wolves are battling a number of Italian clubs to sign Ampadu, after his loan spell in Italy. According to the report, Chelsea only want a dry loan – but that could change if a swap deal is proposed.

Wolves interested in Ampadu and Chelsea linked with Ait-Nouri

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Rayan Ait-Nouri of Wolves. It remains to be seen if their interest remains in the left-back. Or, it has taken a back seat, given the addition of Marc Cucurella.

Chelsea have Ben Chilwell and Cucurella as options on the left. But with Malang Sarr departing and the Blues yet to bring in another desperately-needed centre-back, Cucurella could end up playing on the left side of a three.

So, Chilwell may still need competition and Ait-Nouri might be the ideal fit. Chelsea have shown interest. Reports stating Wolves would want a fee of £45million for their up-and-coming star, signed from Angers.

With Wolves keen on Ampadu, and clearly having little future at Chelsea, surely the Blues could reduce the Wolves asking price for Ait-Nouri by including Ampadu in a deal? Perhaps £30million and Ampadu could get a deal done.
