Manchester United could still send Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal out on loan before the end of the summer if an appropriate offer comes in for either of them.

Erik ten Hag gave opportunities to both teenage midfielders during the recent pre-season tour, but neither of them is guaranteed meaningful minutes in the United first team this season.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Welsh youngster Savage is the more likely of the duo to leave on a temporary deal this summer, with Iqbal currently viewed ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

United are aware that both youngsters need to be gradually exposed to a first-team environment in order to aid their development, but they could yet to decide that United is the best place for them to get that experience.

Savage scored for United U21s when they were thrashed 5-1 by Crystal Palace last Friday, but Iqbal missed out on the youth match given his first-team commitments, although he was not included in the senior matchday squad against Brentford.

It seems unlikely either youngster will get meaningful minutes in the Premier League at the start of the season, but they could both remain around the squad until January given they might be needed in the Europa League and Carabao Cup campaigns.
