Jon Dahl Tomasson makes Rangers amends a year on from ‘money’ swipe as ex-Malmo boss heaps praise on Ibrox hero

JON DAHL TOMASSON made himself rather unpopular with Rangers fans this time last year.
Prior to masterminding Malmo's Champions League qualifying triumph at Ibrox, the club's then-boss stirred the pot and got under supporters' skin.
After a 1-1 draw in Sweden, Tomasson ramped up the heat ahead of the return leg at Ibrox with a thinly veiled dig.
He famously said, with a wry smirk: "Is the pressure on us or them? Don't you think that they need the Champions League's money her? I think so.
"I think they need that. I think that's a good answer, isn't it?"
Whatever Tomasson's intentions were, it certainly worked.

Malmo pulled off a stunning 2-1 win at Ibrox to dump the Gers out and progress to the play-off round.
The match-winner for the Swedish side was, of course, Antonio Colak.
The Croatian striker bagged a double that night to wreck the Light Blues' Champions League dreams.
Last night, Colak was doing his best to make those dreams a reality.

The 28-year old is of course now a Rangers player, and scored his fourth goal in as many games with a smart finish to level the play-off clash with PSV at 1-1.
With the tie ending 2-2, it's finely poised heading to the Netherlands for the second leg next week.
Tomasson is no longer Malmo boss having left the club at the end of last year.
The former Newcastle frontman made a return to English football by taking charge of Championship club Blackburn Rovers in the summer.
Despite it being almost a year since they worked together, it seems Tomasson remains fond of Colak - and he's shown his appreciation for the big striker.
Colak posted a video and a picture of his goal to Instagram and his old boss was there in the comments lavishing praise on the Gers number 9.
Tomasson said: "So happy for you Tony.
"Working hard at any task like you always have with the best attitude.
"This is your time to shine."

While it might not make amends for his comments - or the results - from last year, these words will certainly be better received by the Gers supporters than last year's.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst will take his Light Blues squad to Eindhoven next Wednesday with a place in the Champions League group stage on the line.
