Watford are closing in on the transfer of Kortney Hause from Aston Villa, according to reports.
The Championship club have agreed a season-long loan move with Villa for the centre-back as Steven Gerrard can not promise to give Hause enough game time this season, that despite the long-term injury Diego Carlos sustained earlier this month. Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Calum Chambers are the senior centre-backs remaining in Gerrard's squad.
Watford’s pursuit of Hause started in January when they were in the Premier League but Villa were reluctant to sell back then. Seven months later, the centre-back is set to join the Vicarage Road club on loan for the rest of the season and will now undergo a medical, according to The Athletic.

Villa will be looking to add another centre-back to Gerrard's squad in the final nine days of the window with an approach for Southampton's Jan Bednarek has been made. Other options will be considered before the September 1 deadline, while an attacker might be targeted after a move for Ismaila Sarr broke down at the eleventh hour.
Watford had accepted Villa's £25 million bid, but personal terms and the structure of the deal have not been agreed so the transfer has since fallen through.
