Aston Villa tipped to complete transfer after £25m deal falls through
BirminghamLive brings you the latest Aston Villa news after a £25 million move for Ismaila Sarr collapses
Aston Villa remain in the market to add to Steven Gerrard's attacking options, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
A £25 million deal to sign Ismaila Sarr from Watford broke down at the eleventh hour witn reports claiming personal terms and the structure of the transfer couldn't be agreed on. The winger would have added more quality to Gerrard's frontline, while Cameron Archer was also set to depart for Vicarage Road if Sarr's move was concluded.
Villa have spent roughly £50m this summer on five players as Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen turned their loan stints into permanent moves, while Boubacar Kamara, Diego Carlos and Ludwig Augustinsson (loan) have also joined. Though, following Carlos' long-term injury blow which he suffered in the 2-1 win over Everton earlier this month Villa are actively looking to bring in another centre-back before the September 1 deadine.

Meanwhile, after Villa's move to sign Sarr fell through, transfer expert Romano claims another forward will be on the club's radar too. "Despite the two clubs reaching an agreement, this deal is now off. Ismaila Sarr remains a Watford player for the time being," Romano said.
"For sure Aston Villa will try to sign another player in that position. Crystal Palace also wanted Sarr, then Aston Villa had closed an agreement which collapsed; now the situation is open.
"I rate Sarr highly and feel he is too good to be playing in the Championship, but let’s see what happens between now and the end of the window."
