Christopher Jullien seals Celtic transfer exit as defender pens 3 year Montpellier deal

The French side have reportedly paid just short of £1 million to buy out the final year of the 29-year-old's Parkhead contract.

Christoper Jullien has sealed his exit from Celtic after penning a three-year deal with Montpellier, ending his stay at Parkhead. The defender moved to Glasgow under Neil Lennon in a £7million move from Toulouse and helped the club to a Treble in his first season, scoring the winning goal in the Betfred Cup Final.

But the 29-year-old suffered an horrendous injury in his second campaign which wrecked his season and has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou despite returning to fitness. Jullien has been free to move on from Celtic and failed a medical at Schalke earlier this summer but has now found himself a new club with a return to France after finalising an agreement with Olivier Dall’Oglio’s Ligue 1 side.

Jullien played under the Montpellier boss earlier in his career at Dijon and L’Equipe report a deal has now been agreed after a stringent medical, stating the French side have paid £850,000 to buy out the final year of his Parkhead deal.
