The Swiss striker has been on the Hoops likely departure list all summer, with interest now making a move look more likely.

The transfer window is still well and truly open and it could be a busy closing weeks for Celtic.

Christopher Jullien is the latest to depart, with the defender making the switch from the cinch Premiership to Ligue 1 after penning a three year deal to join Montpellier. The Frenchman's exit is not likely to be the last before the window slams shut and former Celtic man Peter Grant reckons Albian Ajeti 's exit announcement will shortly follow.

It comes as Racing Santander have reportedly reached out to Parkhead chiefs in a bid to secure the Swiss striker. The frontman has been out of favour for as long as one may care to remember, with just over a handful league appearances in green and white since the arrive of Ange Postecoglou. And his departure has been pending all summer, with a deal now looking a lot closer. But Grant reckons the 'writing has been on the wall' for the frontman long before now.

Speaking on Go Radio, the former Celtic and Scotland midfielder said: “He’s not been part of games, few and far between, since the manager came in. So, the writing is on the wall there for him.

“But even before that, he never had a lot of game time either. You are talking three or four years of his career. You don’t want to lose that, I don’t care who you are. It doesn’t matter how many money you’re getting, if you’re not playing games of football surely it must be hurting you."

The ex-Hoops man also had his say on Christopher Jullien's move as he reckons Ange back-line could be running thin following the defender's departure: "Unfortunately, he got a bad injury. So things like that get looked at when it comes to medicals. And obviously getting older, the time you’ve not played. All of that comes into consideration. What your wages are and sometimes they’re looking to just get you off the books, really. " Grant said.

“We’ve brought a couple of centre-halves in but I still think we’re maybe one short to be perfectly honest with you. The manager was talking the other day about maybe bringing another couple of bodies in, maybe one is a centre-back as Julien goes. " He added.
