Ian Evatt says Bolton Wanderers have been offered players on the back of the club's TV appearance against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup as the Whites boss says they are still looking for incomings ahead of transfer deadline day.

The window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday, September 1, and Wanderers are still seeking to make additions if the right opportunities emerge. The Whites have made four signings so far this summer.

Eoin Toal and Jack Iredale have joined on permanent deals. James Trafford and Conor Bradley have signed up for the season on loan from Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.

Following the club's appearance on Sky Sports in the 4-1 loss in the Carabao Cup to Premier League side Aston Villa, Evatt says the Whites have been offered players on the back of it. Though the finances might not mean deals can be done, Evatt believes it is evidence of what Wanderers can attract as, though he cannot promise further incomings, he says Wanderers are still seeking to improve if it can be done sustainably.

He said: “Always looking. Myself and Chris (Markham) have been discussing things today and looking at things so we’ll see how that pans out. I’m not going to sit here and make any promises but we’re always looking to improve and looking to be active.

"Even today, I’ve been offered some players that I didn’t think we’d be capable of getting to be honest.

“Financially they might not be right for us but the fact that they watched us last night and seen a bit of us has kind of put us in the shop window where people want to come and play and be a part of this and they saw the fanbase, they saw the stadium, they saw it was rocking, so it’s great that we’re having that appeal to people.

"We'll look at things and try and improve as best we can. Always looking to be active but no promises.

"In terms of where we’re at right now, I think we’ve got a competitive strong squad, but there’s always room for improvement. But the room for improvement has to come with that sustainability piece, with the football club that we’re trying to build, it’s as simple as that.

“We’re not going to put this club at risk or overspend of have players sitting there just for the sake of having numbers. If we bring people in, there may be people going out and that’s not for financial reasons but really to balance the squad. Today we’ve been offered some really good players, all of a sudden you get excited again.

“The end of transfer windows whether we like them or loathe them, they are exciting and hopefully we can produce one or two bits of magic in this next week or so. If we don’t, fine, I’m happy, if we do then great.”
