Sead Haksabanovic signs for Celtic in 5 year deal as star becomes new No.9

The Montenegro winger joins from Russian side Rubin Kazan on a mega contract and at a knockdown price.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has landed his latest signing of the summer transfer window as Sead Haksabanovic signed a mega contract just hours before the Champions League draw.

The 23-year-old has completed his transfer to the Premiership champions after Rubin Kazan reluctantly allowed their star man to seek an exit – just 12 months after signing him for £5.5million. And now he is set for a Champions League adventure in Glasgow. The attacking midfielder can play in multiple positions across the front three and Postecoglou has been seeking new arrivals who can thrive in various roles.

Habsakanovic is the Hoops' eighth new arrival of the summer after penning a five-year deal. He follows on from the permanent additions of Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota. Benjamin Siegrist, Moritz Jenz, Aaron Mooy and Alexandro Bernabei further bolstered Ange Postecolgou's squad as they look to return their Scottish Premiership title while balancing the demands of group stage football. It's so far, so good on that front after Celtic moved two points clear of Rangers at the top of the table.

The Montenegro international has been handed the Celtic number nine for the campaign ahead. Speaking after penning his Parkhead contract, Habsakanovic said: "It feels amazing. What I know about Celtic is only good things and I’m very happy to be here.

"It’s an amazing club with good players, fans and history. I’ve been watching some games and I think the team play in the same style as me.

"I’ve been speaking to the manager as well and we had a good chat, speaking about how he sees me as a player and how he wants me to fit into his system and everything sounded good so that was it for me. I’m a playmaker with some flair, I’m good in one-on-ones, I have a powerful shot, I’m quick and I’ll give everything for this club."
