Rubin Kazan chief says it’s a ‘miracle’ Celtic paid such a big transfer fee for Sead Haksabanovic

RUBIN KAZAN sports director Oleg Yarovinski has labelled it a miracle that his club were able to get any transfer fee at all from Celtic after they snapped up Sead Haksabanovic for £1.7 million.

The Russian club paid £5.4 million to sign the Montenegro international from Swedish side IFK Norrkoping just a year ago, but had to significantly slash their asking price when the Hoops showed interest.

And although Celtic got him for a cut-price fee, Rubin Kazan have made it clear they were just delighted to get anything at all after previously lashing out at UEFA and FIFA for allowing their foreign players to leave for free.

Yarovinski said: "Regarding the sale of Haksabanovic to Celtic, we managed to recoup a significant transfer fee.

"And in the current situation that we find ourselves in, I would call that a miracle that we managed to get that.

"To get real money into this club is a great success.

"Of course, when we signed him, we counted on a much more profitable resale, but the world has changed.

"His departure is a huge loss for the club because he was a very important player for us, but he expressed a clear desire to leave the club."

Meanwhile, Hoops youngster Owen Moffat is set to leave Glasgow on a permanent move, according to reports.

The 20-year-old made his first appearance for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou last season as he broke his way into the first team at Parkhead.

But after only making two appearances since then, it seems as if his time is up at the club.

Reports suggest he will move to Blackpool on a permanent deal.

Moffat has a deal running until 2024 meaning The Hoops may look to add a sell-on-fee into the sum of the deal.

And he could now join the list of several other youngsters to head out the club permanently this summer as the Daily Record insist he's set to join the English outfit before the end of the window next week.
