Ex-Celtic star Jason Denayer in line for Wolves transfer as Premier League club ‘make approach’ for Premiership winner

FORMER Celtic star Jason Denayer could be set for a big move back to the English Premier League.

The Belgium international enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Parkhead in the 2014/15 season from Manchester City.

Forming a formidable centre back pairing with Virgil van Dijk, Denayer helped Ronny Deila's men to a Premiership and League Cup double in what was his only season in Scottish football.

He returned to the Etihad but never made the first team breakthrough with the current Premier League champions.

Instead, he spent the following season at Galatasaray before heading to Sunderland the campaign after.

He then returned to the Turkish giants for a second spell before leaving City permanently in 2018.

From there, he moved to Lyon in France where he enjoyed a four-year spell with over 100 appearances before his contract came to an end at the conclusion of last season.

Capped 35 times by Belgium, the 27-year old could now be on his way back to English football.

According to the Express and Star, Denayer has been approached by Wolves.

The report claims that the former Hoops standout has been offered a three-year deal at Molineux.

He'd be the latest recruit under boss Bruno Lage in what's been a big-spending window for the Midlands club.

They snapped up Nathan Collins from Burnley for £20million before adding Portuguese international Goncalo Guedes for £35million.

Wolves then completed the stunning signing of highly sought after midfielder Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon for a club-record initial £38million fee.

They haven't yet been able to translate their impressive transfer business to on-field results however and have taken just two points from their opening four Premier League matches.

Denayer's arrival would bolster what's been a much-changed defence at the club.

Stalwarts Conor Coady and Romain Saiss have already left this summer with Willy Boly set to move to Nottingham Forest, too.

He'd go in to provide competition for Nathan Collins and Max Kilman who have formed the starting centre back pairing so far this season.
