Nicolas Raskin leaves Rangers transfer door open after Glen Kamara deadline day jigsaw sidelined midfielder

The Standard Liege star will see out the season in Belgium having entered the final year of his contract.

Nicolas Raskin addresses Rangers interest and his Standard Liege future

In-demand Nicolas Raskin insists he will remain a Standard Liege player this season after a potential move to Rangers failed to get off the ground.

The Standard Liege midfielder had heavily been touted for a move to Ibrox this summer, before a switch to the Scottish Premiership appeared to be rapidly gathering pace on transfer deadline day. Reports had suggested Glen Kamara was nearing a move to OGC Nice in the final hours of the summer window, with outlets in France stating the player's agent had jetted out to the Allianz Riviera in an attempt to thrash out the final details of a £10million move.

The Ligue 1 side switched focus to Bamba Dieng and looked to splash the last of their transfer kitty of the window on the Marseille winger. However, the Senegal cap would fail his medical as the change of heart backfired. Raskin was reportedly lined up by sporting director Ross Wilson as a replacement for Kamara should he leave, but the 21-year-old was the odd man out as the Finland cap remained in Govan.

The Belgian transfer window doesn't close until September 6 and with Raskin out of contract next summer, speculation has ramped up that a late move within the First Division A could be on the cards. However, Raskin states that after the Rangers deal failed to materialise he will see out the season with Ronny Deila 's men.

But he didn't close the door on a future switch to the Scottish Premiership when asked by RTBF about Rangers late interest and any potential exit from Standard Liege. Raskin said: "Yes, I will still be here (Standard), of course.

"I hope that we will win as many matches as possible and be able to do a nice little thing this year."
