Morgan Sanson 'attracted' by Galatasaray move after Aston Villa 'deal' collapses
Latest Aston Villa transfer news as Morgan Sanson is linked with a move away from Villa Park
Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson could still reportedly be on the move despite the transfer market closing for English clubs last week.
Sanson has struggled to establish himself in the Villa side since his move from Marseille in January 2021. A mix of injury troubles and competition for places has limited the French midfielder to just 20 appearances in a Villa shirt, with seven of those being starts.
The 28-year-old declared himself fit on social media ahead of the opening game against Bournemouth this season but is yet to be named in a matchday squad by Steven Gerrard in the new campaign. The deadline passed for Villa to sign players last week, but the transfer window remains open in Turkey and Sanson has been touted with a move to Galatasaray.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported on Twitter that the Villa midfielder is “attracted by the sirens of Turkey”. He added that Sanson “could find his happiness” at Galatasaray, who are claimed to be interested in a loan deal, with the former Marseille man having three years remaining on his current deal.
Tavolieri also stated that a late "deal" to Spanish side Espanyol had been aborted. This was alleged to be because of a Transfer Matching System issue, an online resource overseen by FIFA to help simplify international transfers.
The Belgian journalist ended his report on social media by suggesting supporters “wait and see”, with the transfer market in Turkey set close on September 8. However, Villa boss Gerrard made his stance clear when asked about Sanson’s future last week.
"I expect Morgan’s situation to maybe go down to the wire," Gerrard told BirminghamLive . "I think there’s a few things bubbling in the background for Morgan.
"I hope he can find somewhere to go and find regular football, I think that’s his frustration at the moment which we can certainly respect. But nothing is on the table, concrete, as of yet, but there’s certainly some interest in his personal situation."
