Brian Brobbey has revealed that he wants to play for Manchester United in the future, despite turning down the chance to move to Old Trafford this past summer.

Though United eventually managed to salvage their transfer window with six signings, at the start of July things were looking worryingly bleak. Only Tyrell Malacia had arrived at that point, Cristiano Ronaldo was looking to leave and the club were desperately scrambling for striker reinforcements in the event he did depart.

One target who was considered was young striker Brobbey, who Ajax were looking to re-sign on a permanent basis from RB Leipzig, after he returned to Amsterdam on loan last season and helped Ten Hag's side clinch the Eredivisie title. The manager was keen on reuniting with another one of his former players in Manchester and did make contact, but the 20-year-old opted to complete his return to Ajax in a £14.72million move.

Brobbey, who has two goals and two assists in his first five league games so far this season and was named Player of the Month for August, still has his eyes set on playing for United one day, though, and opened up on his conversation with Ten Hag over the summer regarding a move.

When asked where he wanted to play one day by ESPN, Brobbey replied. "Manchester United."

"Erik sent me a message, yes. To congratulate me, and to tell me that he would like to have me in Manchester. But I'm not finished at Ajax yet, I want to show something here first."

After missing out on Brobbey, United went on to add Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka to their squad.
