The UK was immediately plunged into a state of mourning after it was rocked by the news.

As a mark of respect, Hampden chiefs confirmed that all senior competitions across the SPFL this weekend have been suspended.

This includes all upcoming Scottish Premiership, Scottish Championship, League 1 and League 2 matches as well as the Women’s Scottish Cup fixtures.

However other events are still going ahead - including the 'A Night with Laudrup & Gascoigne' live event in Glasgow.

The SEC - who are hosting the event at 7pm tonight- shared the news on social media this afternoon.

Posting on Twitter, the venue wrote: "We can confirm that this evening's show - A Night With Laudrup & Gascoigne - will go ahead as planned."

Fans have been reacting to the news, with many saying they are looking forward to the event.

One person said: "Looking forward to it".

Another added: "Good, I'll be there".

A third posted: "Can’t wait to see the shape Gazza will be in".

While others hit out at the event, calling the go-ahead a "lack a respect".

An angered fan wrote: "Absolutely shocking state of affairs. Where’s the dignity, where’s the respect. If you attend you should hang your head in shame in perpetuity."

Someone else commented: "No true Ranger should attend at this dreadful time."

Another added: "The queens team too. Have a word with yourselves. Shocking lack of respect!!"

While a fourth called it a "disgrace".

It's the first time the Rangers duo are set to appear together on stage in front of a crowd.

A standard ticket for the event was between £35 and £60, with a VIP ticket, which includes a photo meet and greet, coming in £152.50
