Rangers injury state of play on Roofe, Lawrence, Souttar and Helander as mixed news emerges
The boss is hopeful some of his injured squad will be back in action shortly both there is still uncertain over the recovery of others.
Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has provided an update on whether or not some of his injured squad will return to action after the international break.
The Ibrox gaffer shared positive news on Tom Lawrence who is expected to be back in action, but it was less bright when it came to John Souttar and Filip Helander, with his update on Kemar Roofe offering no guarantees.
Lawrence suffered a knock during Rangers' win over Ross County last month and has been forced to sit on the sidelines since. But Van Bronckhorst reckons the forward will be back in time for the Hearts game on Saturday, October 1. Both Souttar has been out for some time after playing an active role in pre-season for the Gers. But the defender hasn't played since the Ibrox side's win over Livingston on the opening day of the Premiership campaign. Helander is yet to make an appearance this term, having not feature since April. Roofe has been hindered with injuries over the last two season, with the boss sharing the latest from the striker's recovery on Saturday.
Gio van Bronckhorst said: He said: "Hopefully we will have Tom after the break. Tom has a good chance to be available again. For us it is good that there is the break now so Tom has two weeks extra to recover. It is going to be close for Hearts, but somewhere in that period we should have him back.
"John and Fil will take longer. They won't be back after the break. Souttar and Helander will not be in the coming weeks. "Kemar Roofe? We will have to see if he is one of the players who can come back really quick or if he maybe takes a longer time."
