Jason Cummings SOAKED by Australia pals as post-match interview descends into chaos after goalscoring Socceroos debut

The former Scotland cap came off the bench to score from the penalty spot as the Socceroos earned a 2-0 win over New Zealand in Auckland.

After a stellar start to life in the Australian A-League with the Central Coast Mariners, Cummings earned a call-up for the national team, for whom he qualifies through his mum.

It comes at the perfect time for the 27-year old with the game against New Zealand Australia's final match before the World Cup finals in November.

The former Hibs, Rangers and Dundee frontman was introduced as a 63rd minute substitute in the Aussie's second game against New Zealand in three days, and 17 minutes later he was celebrating a debut goal.

Having initially seen a goal-bound effort blocked by a hand ball, Cummings stepped up to take the resulting penalty himself.

He couldn't hide his delight as he partook in a post-match debrief with outlet 10 Football but the interview quickly descended into chaos.

Cummings said: "I'm absolutely buzzing. I've been chomping at the bit to get on over the camp. It's been a good camp, the boys have been different class.

"I got a good 30 minutes. The ball fell to me, I caught it well and it was going in and the boy hand balled it. I was fuming.."

At this point, Cummings is hilariously interrupted as he's soaked with water.

The 27-year old stops in tracks, points to one of his team mates and shouts "Oi, sir!"

He gets his thoughts back on track, adding: "He gave the pen, so I thought 'I've got to step up and take this, finish off my dinner.' Buzzing!

"Fair play to the lads, to Riley (McGree), they asked me if I wanted to take it.

"Of course. It's a striker's dream, it's my dream. Step up, take a penalty, put it in the back of the net. No problem."

Conversation then turns to Cummings' tattoos as the host asks him if he'll get a new one to mark the occasion.

The striker muses over potential new ink, before revealing how his DOG inspired him on his debut.

He added: "I might get a big red kangaroo on there, maybe my cap number. I'll probably get that on there.

"My tattoo of my dog, Carlos. I rubbed it for good luck - the young man done me well!"

Cummings would later dedicate the goal to his pooch, saying "I've got him tattooed on my calf.

"He's in Scotland, so I'm missing him. I touch the dog on my calf, I rub his chest like I used to rub his chest back home and it brings me luck.

"Carlos, if you're listening to this interview, if you're reading this, I love you so much."

Cummings will be back in domestic action with the Central Coast Mariners when the A-League season kicks-off the weekend after next.

He's now fully focused on getting his head down and continuing his sparkling form as he looks to nail down a place in Graham Arnold's World Cup squad.

He said: "It's everyone's dream.
