Former West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is set to return to management in English football nearly two years after leaving The Hawthorns.

The Telegraph is reporting that Watford have sacked Rob Edwards as their manager and Bilic will replace him in the hot seat. The final international break of the year gives Watford the chance to kick-start their season under a new boss and the Watford board have identified Bilic as the ideal coach to get them promoted.

Bilic gained promotion with West Brom in 2019-20, but left the club in December 2020 with the club in the relegation zone. The Baggies gathered just seven points from 13 league games under the Croat before he was relieved of his duties.

Bilic then landed a new job just three weeks after being sacked by West Brom, with Beijing Guoan appointing him as their new permanent head coach. The Chinese Super League club handed him a two-year deal, but Bilic left in January after 22 games in charge.

West Brom have already faced Watford at the Hawthorns this season and drew the game 1-1. Bilic will take on the Baggies at Vicarage Road with his Watford side on Saturday, February 18, with the date and kick-off time subject to change.
