Derek McInnes breaks silence on Kyle Lafferty investigation as SFA join Kilmarnock in probe
The Northern Irishman has been caught up in controversy over the international break and now his boss in Ayrshire has commented on the matter ongoing presently.
Boss Derek McInnes says he can't heavily comment on an investigation taking place into the conduct of Kilmarnock striker Kyle Lafferty.
The Northern Ireland international withdrew from his national side's camp this month after a 'sectarian' incident occurred while Ian Baraclough's side were out for a 'team bonding session.' Killie announced soon after the video emerged online that they would be investigating the matter surrounding the former Rangers striker, returning to Premiership action this weekend against McInnes' former club Aberdeen for the first time since he was named boss at Rugby Park last season.
He says that Kilmarnock are working together with the SFA to investigate the matter although the 51-year-old can not say anything else on Lafferty until the appropriate proceedings are concluded. McInnes said: "As the club previously stated we are conducting our own investigation into the matter and, in consultation with the SFA, we are looking to try to get that resolved as quickly as possible. You will appreciate that, while that investigation is ongoing, I can't say any more than that.

We are in consultation with the SFA and we will be directed on (by) them.
"It is better in all these types of matters, any discipline matters it is always better to get clarity as soon as possible, equally it is important that everybody does their due diligence and does their investigation. We started that last week and we just need to wait to see the outcome of it."
An initial Killie statement read: "Kilmarnock Football Club are aware of a video circulating online which appears to show a member of our playing staff using language of a sectarian nature.
"The club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. The matter will be investigated by the club."
