Erling Haaland's dad outlines Man City exit plan as nightmare scenario becomes reality
Erling Haaland has enjoyed a sensational start to life at Manchester City since arriving from Borussia Dortmund - but may not stay at the Etihad Stadium for the long term
Erling Haaland ’s dad Alf-Inge has hinted that the striker will only stay at Manchester City "for three or four years at the most" amid revelations over his release clause.
The Norwegian striker only arrived at the Etihad Stadium in the summer in a £51million move from German giants Borussia Dortmund. He penned a five-year contract with the reigning Premier League champions, with City securing what was one of the most sought-after signatures in world football.
Haaland has enjoyed an electric start to life under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, plundering a sensational 14 goals in just 10 appearances in all competitions, leaving supporters and club officials delighted.
However, that might not last very long, with Haaland’s dad confirming that his son might not stay with City for an extended period due to his ambition of playing across all of Europe’s top five leagues. Haaland Senior's comments come after alarming revelations emerged regarding his son's release clause.
Speaking on the documentary 'Haaland: The Big Decision', he said: "I think Erling wants to prove his abilities in all leagues. Then he can stay there [Manchester City] for three or four years at the most. He could be, for example, two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half years in England and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?"

It remains to be seen who could make a move for Haaland in the future. Previously, the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid were linked.
Alf-Inge has further admitted that all of those clubs were options ahead of the striker’s move to the Etihad Stadium but suggested that their proposals did not come close to that of his current employers.
"On our list, I think City is the best team," he said. "[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four.

Haaland will be hoping to extend his sensational form for Man City this weekend as the Sky Blues entertain fierce rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
The Norwegian striker has already been involved in a funny exchange with Red Devils fans ahead of the game. He went viral after a video showed him being told by a supporter that he had ‘moved to the wrong side of Manchester’, to which Haaland replied: "They love me here! Yeah, they love me here!"
