Ex-Celtic star Christopher Jullien caught up in TEAR GAS shock as French Ligue 1 match held up amid dreadful scenes

FORMER Celtic star Christopher Jullien has been caught up in alarming scenes while playing in Ligue 1.
His new side Montpellier were TEAR GASSED while playing out their French league fixture with Toulouse.
Jullien's exit from Celtic was confirmed in August.
After a long and drawn out transfer saga, the French centre-half eventually joined Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier.
He only managed 16 minutes of football under Ange Postecoglou after a brief appearance against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.
He passed a medical with German league side Schalke 04, but the move fell through after he could not agree personal terms with them.

But he eventually drew a line under his Celtic career by joining Montpellier this summer.
But the defender has been caught up in frightening scenes while turning out for his new side.
The fixture had to be temporarily halted after reports that tear gas had been released onto the pitch.
The 22 players as well as the staff and the officials had to be cleared from the playing area by police, and the game could not be restarted for another 15 minutes.

BT Sport cameras picked up on Jullien in the background of the chaos as he appears to be drinking water and coughing.
He later returned to the pitch to resume the game.
the commentator said: “By the way that several of the players are holding their shirts over their nose.
"You would think that there might have been something let off which is interfering a bit with their respiratory system but that’s just pure speculation of course.”

The match resumed as normal and the game finished 4-2 to the hosts, Toulouse.
It was a day to forget for the former Hoops centre-back as he conceded four goals on the road which leaves his side 10th in the French top-flight.
