Agent investigated by police for threatening email to ex-Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia

Former Chelsea director Granovskaia was the recipient of a chilling email which included threats from an agent for her alleged role in a transfer dispute that has led to the man's arrest

A high-profile football agent is under investigation from police after threatening ex-Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia over email.

Granovskaia built a fearsome reputation as a shrewd negotiator during her time at Chelsea. She was responsible for bringing a slew of big-name signings to Stamford Bridge when she joined in 2013.

But the she departed from the club earlier this year when former owner and close friend Roman Abramovich sold the club to Todd Boehly. And now it's been revealed that she was victim of a blackmail plot from an agent whilst hashing out the sale of the Blues on Abramovich's behalf that police are looking into, according to The Times.

The unnamed English agent reportedly unleashed a barrage of threats to Granovskaia's email inbox over a transfer deal that he claims she still owed him £300,000 for. The messages demanded the billionaire coughed up the cash to avoid being harmed.

The alleged email is said to read: "I will make you pay for the way you have been, that’s not a threat . . . it’s a promise. If Chelsea don’t pay it’s on you . . . see you when I see you. I will give you the chance to make things correct if you apologise for your behaviour towards me.

"If you don’t then I promise you I will make you pay for the way you have been with me on a personal and business level. This is not a threat so take it how you want.

"This is a promise that I give to anybody who f***s/tries to f*** me over in anything in life. In summary you owe me and my partners 300k which needs to get paid ASAP.

"If Chelsea don’t pay it then the debt will be on you to pay. I am done trying to be nice to you.”

Granovskaia swiftly shared the email with the Metropolitan Police who then arrested the man - who hasn't been named for legal reasons - on September 19. But he was later released on bail without charge, and his solicitor said his client “strenuously denies the allegation” and “has not been charged with any offence at this time.”

Since leaving Chelsea, Granovskaia is yet to return to sport.
