Tottenham star Richarlison posts heartfelt message on Gian Piero Ventrone

Tottenham confirmed the passing of Gian Piero Ventrone on Thursday and Tottenham star Richarlison has now taken to Instagram to upload a heartfelt message to Spurs fans regarding the Italian – calling him a “huge inspiration”.

Spurs announced that Ventrone had died, aged 62. It is reported in Italy that the Tottenham fitness coach died after suffering from acute leukemia. In light of his death, Tottenham have cancelled Antonio Conte’s press conference.

Ventrone joined Tottenham after the arrival of Conte. The two met while Conte was still a player at Juventus, during Ventrone’s second spell at the club between 2001 and 2004. His fitness regimes saw him nicknamed “The Marine”.

Indeed, Ventrone was responsible for the drill – among others – that saw Son Heung-min and Harry Kane struggle in South Korea. Clearly a much-loved figure at Spurs and beyond, his passing has seen plenty send their best wishes.

Graham Roberts and commercial officer Todd Kline reacted earlier. Now, Tottenham star Richarlison has taken to Instagram to pay his respects with a heartfelt post about his brief spell working with “huge inspiration” Ventrone.

Sad news coming out of Tottenham. It is clear that Richarlison and many other Tottenham players are big fans of the Italian. Such is evident in Richarlison’s post. He says the Spurs squad “were all devastated” to hear Ventrone had died.

What is also apparent, from Richarlison’s touching message, is that Ventrone was also more than just a fitness coach. Informing the summer signing to keep his head up, but also having a laugh with him regarding his dyed white hair.

Spurs described the news as “impossibly sad” and no-one will be hurting more than the manager, who had known Ventrone for years. Spurs are next in action on Saturday evening, when they take on Brighton away from home.
