Charlie Austin has had his say about West Brom’s current predicament and he is clear where the blame lies for their struggles.

Austin top-scored for the Baggies in 2019-20 as they finished runners-up in the Championship before making a loan switch to QPR in January 2021, midway through the ill-fated Premier League campaign.

Now in Australia with Brisbane Roar, the 33-year-old took to Twitter to express his surprise at West Brom’s current league position, which sees Steve Bruc e’s side sit inside the bottom three with 12 games played.

It prompted a number of responses from fans, with one suggesting that Albion ’s fall-off in form was inevitable given the cutbacks needed for a second season outside the Premier League.

Austin replied by saying: “Too easy to use that as an excuse.”

The former Burnley striker’s departure from The Hawthorns came shortly after the sacking of Slaven Bilic, the man who led Albion to promotion in 2019-20. And Austin went on to outline where he thought Albion’s problems originated, tweeting: “Should never got rid of Slav.”
