Richard Beale plans to give everything he has got in order to help make West Bromwich Albion's recruitment process as easy as possible.

The Albion under 21 boss was summoned to a meeting on Monday morning, where he was informed that Steve Bruce and his selected coaching staff had lost their jobs and that he'd be tasked with taking first-team training in the interim.

Beale, who has previously worked at Birmingham City, Solihull Moors and Aston Villa in various coaching capacities, will fill the caretaker role for as long as he is required to - and that could likely mean taking charge of the first team at Reading this weekend.

"Literally Monday morning a phone call came in for a meeting and that was probably when the chaps were told," Beale said. "I was asked if I could do training for the short-term and I'm more than happy to do that for the club.

"It's always tough when people lose their jobs but the club have asked me to take it on for however long it is. I'll always do that for the club.

"I've worked with the first team at Blues before, with Solihull Moors before, we had a week as joint-caretakers at Blues," Beale recalled. "Training was great, the lads trained very, very well.

"Let's have a good week with them, a positive week and everything at the club is geared towards getting a result on Saturday, that's the aim and what we're trying to do."

Despite his first-team commitments in the day on Monday, when he was assisted by goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh, remaining first-team coach James Morrison and fellow academy coach Chris Brunt, Beale took charge as normal of the 21s in Hednesford last night.

The beginning of the campaign in the Premier League 2 has been a largely excellent one; they've won four of their six league games, the latest of those against Middlesbrough at Keys Park as Reyes Cleary helped himself to a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory.

Although the score-line itself would point to a comprehensive win and convincing display, Beale wasn't wholly content by his team's showing.

"Yes and no, as silly as it sounds. Obviously it's great to win the game but at times it wasn't a classic performance from us," Beale analysed. "It was a tough game at times, they're a good team, but the lads showed a fantastic mentality and dug ourselves back into a game that we made a bit of a poor start in.

"Overall if you score five goals you're happy, on the back of scoring six last week, it's great that we've got forwards scoring loads and playing with loads of confidence. We struggled a bit at times on the night and that was disappointing, but that's young players and we're always striving for excellent."
