Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor labelled ‘suspect’ in Liverpool rout as previous Champions League heroics forgotten

ALLAN McGREGOR has been so often Rangers' hero in Europe - but even the usually-reliable goalkeeper was branded SUSPECT during the 7-1 drubbing by Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp's clinical side punished every Rangers slip-up in a stunning second-half shakedown that saw fans pouring through the Ibrox exit doors long before the end of the 7-1 thrashing.
Mo Salah scored the quickest hat-trick in Champions League history, taking just six minutes between first to third strike after coming on as a second half substitute.
A Roberto Firmino double and strikes from Harvey Elliot and Darwin Nunez totted up to a record-breaking defeat for Rangers - and even McGregor was not spared in post-match analysis.
Ibrox legend Ally McCoist "did not disagree" with radio colleague Gabby Agbonlahor who labelled the 40-year-old "suspect" for several of the goals in what was branded "a capitulation".
The former Aston Villa and England forward, turned Talksport pundit said: "If I put capitulate in Google it’ll come up Rangers mate.

"The defending – giving someone like Mo Salah that time. These top top players can get the old toe-poke off. You can’t give them time or space.
"But the defending – I’ve never seen anything like it.
"McGregor has been outstanding but he was suspect for some of the goals as well."
McCoist replied: “I don’t disagree, I do not disagree.

"It’s indefensible, with about 20 or 35 minutes to go it’s 2-1, and then they capitulated."
The goalkeeper was beaten by Firmino's front-post header which cancelled out Scott Arfield's opener in the first half and was then beaten by the Brazilian again after the break.
His poor kick-out straight to Fabinho was punished next and six touches later Darwin Nunez tucked in the third before the restored goalkeeper got a touch on the first of Mo Salah's strikes - but couldn't keep it out
The Egyptian then wrong-footed McGregor for Liverpool's fifth and the goalkeeper could only watch Salah's hat-trick clincher flash by him for number six.
McGregor did keep Diogo Jota's close-range effort out late on - one of only TWO saves recorded - but couldn't stop Harvey Elliot's rebound.
It is capped a dramatic change in fortunes for McGregor, who was hailed after his heroics at Anfield last week and saved TWO penalties against Napoli at Ibrox.

Agbonlahor added: "As an outsider it’s a shame for Scottish football when last season you played Champions League teams in the Europa League and you put up a top performance.
"I just wish Rangers could put up a better fight in the UCL. You fight so hard to get there."
