Wolverhampton Wanderers are still on the lookout for a new man to take charge of the club following the departure of Bruno Lage.

The former boss left the club earlier this month following a 2-0 Premier League defeat against West Ham United. Caretaker manager Steve Davis has taken charge of the last two games, picking up his first win in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Wolves continue to be linked with a number of potential candidates to take over. Julen Lopetegui was the club’s prime target, but the manager has instead decided to take a break from football in order to spend time with his elderly father who is ill.

It means that Wolves had to move onto other targets. Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with a return, but former Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz has now emerged as a ‘prime candidate’ for the position.

Who is Peter Bosz?

Bosz is currently out of work after leaving French side Lyon just nine days ago. He was in charge of the club for around 18 months, leading them to an eighth place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

The 58-year-old started his career in football as a defensive midfielder, earning eight caps for the Netherlands. The club where he had the most success as a player was Feyenoord, where he spent five years, winning the league once and the Dutch Cup on three occasions.

He retired from playing in 2000, before taking up the role of manager at AGOVV Apeldoorn six months later. Bosz has managed a total of 10 clubs, including Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

The former player also spent two-and-a-half years as director of football with former side Feyernoord between 2006 and 2009, before returning to management. Bosz’s time at Lyon came to an end earlier this month after a poor run of form for the club with the team picking up one point from his final five games in charge.

The manager’s departure came after striker Alexander Lacazette criticised his decision to take off Moussa Dembele in the second half of his final game against Toulouse in a 1-1 draw.

"I'm a bit surprised (by Dembélé's exit) because as a striker, when you need to score, it's always annoying to go off the pitch," Lacazette told Prime Sport after the game.

"I think we were good with Moussa up front. But then the coach made his choices, he had his reasons. We are 'obliged' to respect his choices. But I'm a striker through and through, I don't always understand when a centre-forward comes off when we have to score."

The striker was then asked if the manager should stay, to which he replied: "I just want to win matches, so after that it's not up to me to decide if he stays or not, it's up to the president, the sporting director, the board to decide."
