Having played for Aberdeen under Sir Alex Ferguson as well as English giants Manchester United and Leeds, it's easy to see why Strachan was and is still such a familiar face to footy fans.

Not to mention the fact he also enjoyed a stellar managerial career including long spells as Celtic and Scotland boss.

The 65-year-old appeared on Kammy and Ben's Proper Football Podcast and he was asked about the strangest place he'd ever been spotted by a fan.

The 50-times capped former Scotland star didn't have to think twice as his mind instantly shifted back to a moment during his time at Aberdeen.

Strachan played for the Dons between 1977 and 1984 but it was during a trip to Dundee when the bizarre situation unfolded.

He recalled: "The funniest place I got recognised, but I never even realised I got recognised, was in Dundee.

"I was at Aberdeen at the time and maybe near the end of my Aberdeen days.

"I went to Dundee to watch a game on telly in the pub.

"So I went to the toilet. You probably know the cubicles are not much fun if you're you are me because people come up and stand next to you and then shake your hand and all the rest of it.

"So I was in the cubicle. Basically, I'm sitting down. I'm sitting there contemplating what's going to happen.

"Next minute, this hand comes underneath the cubicle with a piece of paper and a pen - 'wee man, could you sign that for us please?'

"I went 'eh, aye alright then. What's your name pal'

"He said 'just put best wishes.'

"So I slid it back under - there you go.
